Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Transferred to Pennsylvania Federal Prison

Sean Combs was moved to a low-security federal prison in Pennsylvania. The Bureau of Prisons gave no reason.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred from a federal prison in New Jersey to one in Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Prisons confirmed Friday, following weeks of reports about his conditions of confinement.

The bureau moved Combs, 56, from FCI Fort Dix to FCI Allenwood Low, a low-security facility south of Williamsport and about 155 miles west of New York City, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly. The bureau said it does not discuss conditions of confinement, including reasons for a transfer, citing privacy, safety and security. A spokesperson for Combs said placement decisions rest with the bureau and that he could not address the circumstances. The spokesperson added that Combs hopes his time at the new facility is productive and free of unnecessary disruption.

Combs is serving a four-year, two-month sentence after being convicted last year on prostitution-related charges involving the transport of people across state lines for sexual encounters. A jury acquitted him of the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges. In April, a panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments on his bid to overturn the conviction. His lawyers also argued the sentence was too harsh. The court has not ruled.

The transfer follows a September report by NBC News alleging that Combs had access to alcohol and a contraband cellphone at Fort Dix and received services from fellow inmates. The Bureau of Prisons has said it does not comment on whether an individual is the subject of allegations, investigations or sanctions. After the NBC report, Combs was placed in the prison’s special housing unit, a restricted area separate from the general population, and lost 41 days of good-conduct credit, according to the person who spoke to the AP. Inmate records list his release date as March 2, 2028, ABC News reported.

Accounts of a medical episode last week differ. ABC News, citing multiple sources, reported that Combs was briefly taken to a hospital for a head injury last weekend and returned to Fort Dix early Sunday. TMZ reported Wednesday that Combs was hurt in a fight with another inmate. The bureau told the AP that report was false and did not happen. The cause of the injury has not been publicly confirmed.

Information for this report was provided by The Associated Press, ABC News and TMZ.
