City won 3-0 at Anfield after Gravenberch was sent off. It was City’s first game since the ruling.

Manchester City beat 10-man Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Sunday to stay top of the Premier League, in their first game since an independent commission found the club guilty of breaching the league’s financial rules.
Ryan Gravenberch was sent off for a second bookable offense just after the hour, and City scored three times in quick succession through Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki. The red card was debated afterward, with ESPN asking whether it was the right call.
Home supporters unfurled banners calling City “cheats” and ridiculed the visitors. City faced 115 charges, and the commission upheld 114 of them at the end of September. The club could still face a punishment, ESPN noted.
Coach Enzo Maresca, who took over from Pep Guardiola in the summer, said his side could use the hostility to build a siege mentality with its fans, Sky Sports reported. City face Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the Champions League.
