Trump Compliments Nicki Minaj’s Looks at Michigan Rally as Rapper Urges Votes for Republicans

Minaj flew to Port Huron on Air Force One and called herself Trump’s “number one fan.”

PORT HURON, Mich. – President Donald Trump made a crude remark about the backside of rapper Nicki Minaj at a campaign rally in Michigan on Sunday, shortly before she took the stage to urge voters to back Republican candidates ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

Trump was retelling a story about Ohio Sen. Jon Husted’s physique when he interrupted himself to call Minaj’s backside beautiful, say it was “hard to miss” and ask her to stand, according to video of the rally. He said he hoped she was not insulted and that she had been with his supporters for a long time. Trump had made similar comments about Husted at a rally in North Carolina last week, The Daily Beast reported.

Minaj, wearing a gold Gucci suit, led the crowd in chants of “We love Trump,” the BBC reported. She called herself the president’s “number one fan” and urged voters to support Republican candidates Mike Rogers, who is running for the US Senate, and John James. She also said she would back Trump if he sought another term, Complex reported. Trump introduced her by joking that he doesn’t like being overshadowed.

Minaj traveled to Michigan with Trump on Air Force One and posted a video on X in which she playfully pretended to interview for the White House press secretary job, the BBC reported.

She has become one of Trump’s most prominent celebrity supporters. She called herself his “number one fan” at a January event promoting “Trump Accounts,” and she has said it is okay to change your mind. In 2018 she criticized his immigration policy that separated families at the border.
