Eight men have been arrested following a robbery in Maraval. Adam’s Bagels says it is strengthening security at its premises.

Eight men have been arrested in connection with a violent robbery at a business place along Saddle Road, Maraval, as the establishment involved says it is taking steps to strengthen security following the incident.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the suspects, aged between 19 and 39, were arrested during an investigation involving officers from the Port of Spain and Western divisions, with assistance from the North Eastern Division. Acting Assistant Superintendent Russell outlined the operation during a police media briefing.
According to police, the robbery occurred at about 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, after a 56-year-old woman withdrew a large sum of money from a local bank and drove to a business place along Saddle Road. As she returned to her vehicle, three men allegedly approached her after exiting a silver Nissan Tiida, struck her several times about the head and body, and took a black bag.
The bag reportedly contained TT$22,000, an iPhone 12 and three bank cards. Police said the suspects fled south along Saddle Road in the silver vehicle. The victim subsequently reported the incident to the St Clair Police Station, prompting an immediate police operation.
During the investigation, officers intercepted a black Honda City with four male occupants along Monro Coco Road, Petit Valley, near Yogi Drive. Police said the occupants were arrested and were assisting with the investigation. Eight men were arrested in total as a result of the operation.
Investigators later found a grey Nissan Tiida opposite Maracas Bay along the North Coast Road. Police believe the vehicle was used in the robbery. Officers reported finding a handbag containing a purse and documents identified as belonging to the victim inside the vehicle. The car was seized as investigations continued.
In a statement reported by the Trinidad Guardian on Wednesday, October 21, Adam’s Bagels said it was deeply saddened by the incident at its Saddle Road, Maraval, premises and regretted the fear and distress experienced by the customer. The business said its team attended to the woman and offered support, and stated that she had not been physically injured.

The business also said it was taking immediate steps to strengthen security on the compound to help prevent a similar incident. It reaffirmed its commitment to making the premises a place where customers feel safe and welcome.
The police briefing did not provide details of charges against the eight arrested men. Their arrests do not establish guilt, and the investigation remains ongoing.
